Tomorrow: Activism and empowerment with social media

Tomorrow, we will discuss activism and empowerment in social media. To enrich our discussion, we have a visitor from the VU itself, Lynn Epping.

From the time she was in secondary school, Ms. Epping was a student representative in the student counsel.  When she was 17, she became a board member of ROOD, the political youth organization of the SP, and stayed on the board for 2 years. During this period she was recognized as political talent and given special training headed by Agnes Kant.

Last year, Lynn was a board member of the SRVU student union, which is the student union of the VU. As a board member, she was responsible for creating a social media policy.

Ms. Epping will discuss her experience creating social media campaigns and policy in these different capacities.

Be prepared to ask Lynn questions and make sure to read Clay Shirky’s essay so we can discuss it in class. See you tomorrow.
